Your iPhone already groups faces on-device (PhotoKit); you tap those groups at setup, so we filter by your kids instead of taking your camera roll. Uploads use iOS 26.1's PHBackgroundResourceUploadExtension, which delivers photos while the app stays closed. Photos that don't match your picks are never stored, and the privacy policy makes that binding.
